HVAC SEO That Ranks The Towns You Actually Serve
Map pack placement and service-area pages that bring in replacement work, not just traffic.
Ranking for your city is not the same as ranking for your money
Plenty of contractors rank first for their own company name and nothing else. The searches that pay are the ones happening three towns over at 6am in January, and those are won in the map pack and on service-area pages that are genuinely about that town. Most HVAC sites have one contact page and a list of city names in the footer, which Google has ignored for years.
What you get
Google Business Profile as a ranking asset
Categories, services, service-area geometry, product listings and a review cadence. For local search this profile does more work than the website, and it is the piece most often left half-finished.
Service-area pages with something to say
One page per town you genuinely serve, with real local detail: the permit office, common housing stock and system ages, response times. Thin duplicate pages with the city swapped in do not rank and have not for a long time.
Pages that match install intent
Separate pages for furnace replacement, heat pump conversion, AC installation and commercial work. A single services page cannot rank for all of them at once.
Technical and Core Web Vitals work
Crawlability, indexation, internal linking, LocalBusiness and FAQ structured data, and page speed. This is the unglamorous half and it is usually where the fastest wins are.
Review generation tied to the job
Review requests triggered when a job closes, routed to the profiles that affect map pack ranking. Volume and recency both count.
Often paired with
Local Service Ads
The top slot on the page, paid per lead, with disputes filed and reviews kept moving.

How long does HVAC SEO take to work?
Google Business Profile and map pack improvements can show inside four to eight weeks. Organic rankings for competitive service-area terms generally take six to twelve months. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is describing paid ads or a keyword nobody searches.
Is SEO worth it when Local Service Ads exist?
They do different jobs. Local Service Ads buy you the top of the page today and stop the moment you stop paying. SEO compounds and keeps producing between seasons. Most contractors we work with run both, with paid carrying the load while organic builds.
Do I need a page for every town I serve?
Only for towns you genuinely service and want more work in. Ten well-built service-area pages outperform sixty thin ones, and sixty thin ones can hold the whole site back.
What happens to my rankings if we stop?
The pages, the profile and the content stay yours and keep ranking for a while. Rankings decay as competitors keep publishing and earning links. There is no cliff, but there is drift.
